‘Knives Out’ Adds Tons of New Faces to its Cast

Knives Out
Production on director Rian Johnson’s original murder mystery movie Knives Out is underway, and the movie has received some additional big names in its cast as filming on the project (which is inspired by the works of Agatha Christie, although not an adaptation of any of her work) is just getting started.

Since filming has begun, three more reports have come in explaining that the already-buzzy movie is getting some even more important names added into the mix. The Hollwood Reporter adds two major names in the form of Christopher Plummer and Katherine Langford. Meanwhile, ComicBookMovie.com adds another name to the list in the form of Jaeden Lieberher. They will be joining an all-star cast that includes Daniel Craig (who will be filming this movie due to the delay to the production of his final James Bond movie), Chris Evans, Lakeith StanfieldMichael Shannon, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, and Toni Collette. Craig’s character is described as a detective hired to solve a crime, while all other roles are entirely mysterious.

Knives Out represents an opportunity for Johnson to unwind after an exhausting development process on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which was easily his most expensive and demanding effort to date. The project is being likened more toward Johnson’s pre-Star Wars efforts, namely Brick from Focus Features and Looper from TriStar Pictures. After work on this project is complete, Johnson will likely go into overdrive developing his planned of Star Wars standalone with Lucasfilm that he will write, produce, and direct. The project has the potential to spin off into its own trilogy provided that his first one does well. He’ll be joined by co-producer Ram Bergman, who is also helping him on Knives Out.

Knives Out is in development, and it does not yet have a release date.
