‘Joker’ Casts Bruce Wayne and Alfred

Joker

Todd Philips’ Joker added two new faces to the cast this week with ComicBook.com confirming that Douglas Hodge and Dante Pereira-Olson have joined the production as Alfred and Bruce Wayne respectively.

No other details about the characters are known at this time, but with the addition of Bruce Wayne to the cast I can’t help but think back to Tim Burton’s Batman where it was the Joker who murdered Thomas and Martha Wayne. Whilst this is unlikely to happen in Joker, it is the first film since Burton’s to have such a large age gap between the clown prince of crime and the boy who will one day become Batman.

Hodge is best known for his work in The Night Manager, Penny Dreadful, and Catastrophe, whilst Pereira-Olson has appeared in both Jessica Jones and Happy!. They join a cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Robert De Niro, and Brett Cullen as Thomas Wayne.

Joker, which is currently filming in New York, is directed by Todd Philips from a script by Philips and Scott Silver. The film is due for release October 4th 2019.
