First Trailer Arrives for ‘Reign of the Supermen’
Earlier this year Warner Bros. Animation released what could arguably be called the best Superman movie in decades in The Death of Superman. Now, get a first look at the story’s epic conclusion in the trailer for Reign of the Supermen.
Released exclusively via IGN, the trailer introduces each of the four potential Supermen, asking “Who are these new guys?” whilst declaring “Nothing ever truly dies.”
With Superman’s big screen future currently uncertain, it was heartening to see the character making a triumphant return to form in animation in The Death of Superman. And it looks like that is set to continue in Reign of the Supermen.
Like Death, Reign will be a retelling rather than a straight adaptation. We get glimpses of the new story elements in a trailer, with Cyborg Superman offering people the power to be heroes, and what could be a Boom Tube signalling Darkseid’s arrival after his involvement was teased in the first instalment. It’s also great to see Bibbo, who provided one of the most emotional moments in the first film, be the one to inspire the people in the trailer.
And then there’s the last shot of the trailer. A brief tease of the one true Superman’s return.
Reign of the Supermen is directed by Sam Liu and is due for release early in 2019.
