‘Knives Out’ Casts Ana De Armas, Will Film Next Month

Knives Out
Knives Out, the murder mystery thriller from director Rian Johnson, is moving right along with its casting process as Ana De Armas becomes the first actress up for a major role in the film.

Deadline is reporting that Armas will be joining the ensemble cast of the Agatha Christie-inspired murder mystery. She will be joining the likes of Daniel Craig (who will be filming this movie due to the delay to the production of his final James Bond movie), Chris Evans, Lakeith Stanfield, and Michael Shannon as the project continues to pick up steam. The project now has a financier in the form of MRC, and filming is set to begin sometime next month.

Johnson has also written the script to Knives Out, and the highly-anticipated project will likely have a distributor in the coming months. Johnson’s original movie will serve as his first small-scale project after working on the massive Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, and it will directly precede development on his first spin-off in a planned trilogy of films. For both Star Wars and Knives Out, Johnson has enlisted the assistance of longtime collaborator Ram Bergman to co-produce the projects.

Knives Out is in development, and it does not yet have a release date.
