‘Deadpool 2’ PG-13 Recut Reportedly Titled ‘The Deadpool Before Christmas’

Deadpool
The year’s only R-rated superhero hit is unexpectedly getting a PG-13 recut, and now we know what it might be called. In the spirit of the holidays, the watered-down misadventures of one merry mutant mercenary will reportedly be called The Deadpool Before Christmas. (Oh, and Fred Savage is in this version of the movie.)

BBC entertainment correspondent Lizo Mzimba has managed to snag himself an exclusive scoop on the untitled Deadpool movie hitting in time for the holidays. Rather than calling it something like Deadpool 2: Family Film Edition, Fox appear to be embracing the spirit of the Christmas season:

On an incidental note, the image that’s being used at the head of the article is something that Ryan Reynolds posted on his Twitter. It appears as though this image, featuring Fred Savage, is part of the recut version of the movie. It appears to be playing off of the framing device used in The Princess Bride where the old man is reading a book to his sick grandson. This may actually be how they’ll get around some of the R-rated content, as the picture above specifically shows a hand-drawn version of the scene where the Juggernaut rips Deadpool in half. For now, however, we’ll just have to wait until Fox makes an official announcement about the alternate cut of the movie.

The Deadpool Before Christmas will be released on December 21, 2018.
