Final ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Trailer Arrives

Fantastic Beasts
The final trailer for the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has arrived, complete with major reveals that tie it in with the Harry Potter and Wizarding World stories that follow it.

One of the big reveals in this trailer is that Nagini is an animagus, or a witch who can transform into an animal. That presents interesting implications for her role in the time of Voldemort, in which she becomes his final Horcrux. We also briefly get a look at Nicolas Flamel, the creator of the Philosopher’s Stone that factored heavily into the first Harry Potter novel. Another allusion to that book is seen with the Mirror of Erised, which shows a viewer their innermost desire; according to Rowling, Albus Dumbledore had unrequited feelings toward Gellert Grindelwald, something that’s reflected in him looking into the mirror and seeing his old colleague. The film certainly looks promising, and these connections to the other films make it seem like it will make it a must-watch for longtime fans.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is directed by David Yates and features a script by Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling. The film stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is due for release November 16, 2018.
