New ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ Trailer Explores the Dark Web

Ralph Breaks the Internet
Wreck-It Ralph is back, and he’s never gonna give you up or let you down.

The latest – and likely the last – trailer for the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is here, and it is the best one so far. You can check it out below.

Though I’ve enjoyed the previous trailers for Ralph Breaks the Internet, I will admit that they had me a bit worried. Shying away from giving out much plot information, the other trailers chose to instead focus on the aesthetic of the internet-world. While interesting, without much context, the visuals didn’t seem too different from something like The Emoji Movie. Thankfully, this new trailer shows us how the internet setting well affect the more character-driven narrative.

In the trailer, we learn that Ralph and Vanellope have to venture off into the internet to find a replacement racing wheel for the Sugar Rush arcade game. Without this spare part, Sugar Rush could remain unplugged forever, leaving the inhabitants without an arcade game to call home. But as they go further into the world wide web, Vanellope finds that she may want a new life that doesn’t involve going back to Litwak’s arcade.

Though I admit I miss the simplicity of Wreck-It Ralph being about classic arcade games, I’m pleased to know that this new plot will focus heavily on the relationship between Ralph and Vanellope. The line where Vanellope is told “there is no law saying best friends have to have the same dreams” is damn near heartbreaking. So even if the new movie will focus on Easter eggs and references that expand far beyond just video games, I know now that the movie will feature plenty of heart.

The original cast of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch return to voice their respective characters, and they are joined by Gal Gadot, Taraji P. Henson, James Corden, Bill Hader, and Alfred Molina, among a few others surprises.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 – now simply titled Ralph Breaks the Internet – opens on November 21st, 2018.
