‘Casino Royale’ Writers to Rewrite ‘Bond 25’

Bond 25
Following director Danny Boyle’s exit last month, Deadline have confirmed that Bond 25 is to receive a rewrite by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Purvis and Wade, who have been co-writers on all of Daniel Craig’s previous outings as 007, had previously written a treatment for Bond 25. This initial treatment was abandoned by Danny Boyle, who opted to write a new script with co-writer John Hodge.

As we reported last month, it was this new script that led to the creative differences between Boyle, Craig, and the franchise’s producers, that ultimately saw Boyle leave the production.

According to Deadline, Purvis and Wade’s original treatment has now been approved. Their new script will elements from both their treatment and Boyle’s script, working them together to create a new movie.

Whilst Purvis and Wade are writing the script, EON and MGM are continuing their search for a new director. Deadline reports that names like as Edgar Wright, Yann Demange, and David Mackenzie have all been brought up as possible replacements for Boyle but no decision has been made.

Bond 25 is currently due to open November 8th 2019, though this is likely to change once a new director is hired and the new script is complete.
