Robin Wright and Connie Nelson Return for Wonder Woman 1984

Robin Wright to return for Wonder Woman 1984

It would appear that Wonder Woman 1984 is bringing back two more major characters from the original film. Needless to say, don’t read on if you don’t want to spoil the plot of  2016’s Wonder Woman.

According to a new report from NET-A-PORTER, the sequel will bringing back Robin Wright’s Antiope and Connie Nielsen’s Queen Hippolyta.

That would seem strange, given that Antiope was killed early on in the first film and Diana was exiled from Themiscyra during the first film. We’re certainly under the impression that Diana never returned to Themiscyra before the events of Justice League (this film is a second prequel, set in 1984, as the title suggests).

The simple explanation is that this is a flashback sequence to Diana’s childhood, which seems most likely. Then again, Chris Trevor is rumoured to return in the sequel, so perhaps Diana will return to her people in this film. It’s not like she knows the rest of the Justice League well enough to divulge that information anyway.

Wonder Woman 1984 is slated for release on 1 November 2019. For more news on the sequel, stay tuned to MNN.
