‘Supergirl’ Flies Again As Warner Bros. Plans a New Movie

SupergirlSupergirl is set to head back to the big screen!

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has hired writer Oren Uziel (The Cloverfield ParadoxSonic the Hedgehog) to write a new movie for the Girl of Steel.

The move comes as something of a surprise given that, prior to Deadline’s revelation, the Super-family focus had all been on whether or not Henry Cavill would return as Superman, and if Christopher McQuarrie might direct the Superman sequel. And speaking of Superman – there’s no word yet on whether or not the Man of Steel will appear in the movie, though given the rumor that DC Films were looking to make Superman the connective glue of their universe, and the familial relationship of the characters, it would certainly make sense.

Given the success of both Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, along with the popularity of the Supergirl TV series, it makes sense that Warner Bros. would want to bring the character to the big screen. DC Comics have some of the greatest female heroes and villains in the world, and they have proven to be some of their greatest successes on the silver screen. Walter Hamada no doubt wants to build on that success as he looks to redefine DC Films moving forward.

There’s currently no producer or director attached to Supergirl and release date has been set.
