Disney Releases New Trailer and Featurette for ‘Christopher Robin’

Christopher Robin
“It’s always a sunny day, when Christopher Robin comes to play.” Well, today must be sunny indeed because Walt Disney Pictures have released a new trailer and a short featurette for next month’s Christopher Robin.

The new ‘Adventure’ trailer sees an adult Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor) struggling to balance his family life with the demands of his work, in a world missing the imagination and wonder of his childhood. Then the return of his old friend leads him on an adventure he never knew he needed.

Who can resist that image of Christopher sat on a tree trunk, sharing honey with his silly old bear?

As Hayley Atwell, who plays Christopher Robin’s wife Evelyn, says in the new ‘Legacy’ featurette;

“This is a charming story of a man finding his home again, and find that inner child.”

The featurette also gives us a glimpse of even more new footage, with Christopher asking Pooh how he recognised him, and Evelyn running through London with Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore in her arms.

As a Disney fan it’s incredible to see Richard Sherman back, writing new songs for the film. Obviously, Christopher Robin is not a musical. But Disney’s recent remake of The Jungle Book proved how effectively the classic melodies can be worked in. If they can do the same here, along with a little something new, it could elevate the movie at just the right moments.

I think Ewan McGregor said it best:

“It really is a lovely, funny, adventure. We’ll come out the better for it, having seen it.”

Directed by Marc Foster, Christopher Robin is due for release 3rd August 2018. The film stars Ewan McGregor, Hayley Atwell, Bronte Carmichael, and Mark Gatiss. It features the voice talents of Jim Cummings, Brad Garrett, Toby Jones, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi, and Sophie Okonedo.
