Idris Elba Joins the Hobbs and Shaw Fast & Furious Spin-Off
Idris Elba has joined the cast of The Fast & The Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw.
Deadline reports that Elba (Luther, Beasts of No Nation) will be playing the film’s villain, acting opposite Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson, who play the film’s leads.
The Luther actor is perhaps the biggest name to join the cast aside from the two main leads, coming off the heels of up and coming actress Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), who has also signed on to the project in a role that has not yet been revealed. As of yet, there has been no news on who has been cast in the roles of the more secondary characters that were revealed last month.
David Leitch is directing the film off a script written by Chris Morgan, who has been a writer and producer on the Fast & Furious series since Tokyo Drift.
