The Devil is Back in Business – Netflix Saves ‘Lucifer’

Lucifer has been saved from cancellation Hell as Netflix picks up the series for a ten episode fourth season.

Earlier this week it looked like Amazon might be the one to save everyone’s favourite devil, but it was ultimately Netflix that pulled off the last minute save.  The deal, which happened yesterday, comes just in time for the series as the casts’ contracts were due to expire today. Series star Tom Ellis took to Twitter, along with his co-stars, to thank the series’ fans who campaigned to #SaveLucifer, saying it was their support that made this happen.

Lucifer is the second FOX show to be saved this season due to overwhelming fan support, following NBC’s rescue of Brooklyn Nine Nine, and the fourth season will be the first DC Comics content created for exclusively for Netflix.

Whether or not the Netflix deal could lead to further seasons will likely depend on how well the fourth season does for the streaming giant, but if the show does well at its new home then future seasons are almost certainly a possibility! At the very least, fans no longer have to live with the show ending on season three’s cliffhanger finale, now they just have to wait to find out what happens next.
