‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Makes $2B at Global Box Office

After about a month and a half of global play, Avengers: Infinity War has become the fourth film in history to bring home $2B at the box office.

The Hollywood Reporter has observed that the global cume of the movie is now at $2.002B after playing for 48 days. That makes it the second-fastest movie to reach that milestone, as Fox’s Avatar reached that same point in 47 days, while fellow Disney mega-hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens reached the same point in 54 days, and Paramount’s Titanic didn’t reach the same point until it was re-released in 3D nearly fifteen years later. Unlike those three movies, which were released in December, Infinity War was released during the Summer.

While there’s no way that Infinity War can conceivably top Avatar‘s global box office gross, especially on the verge of the release of Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World, this is quite the accomplishment for the superhero mega-crossover. Between this and Black Panther, Marvel has proven, once again, that they’re a brand not to be messed with.

Avengers: Infinity War is still playing in theaters. A sequel, the currently-untitled Avengers 4, will be released on May 3, 2019.
